William Morris (1834-1896)
Morris was an English artist, textile furniture designer, poet, novelist, publisher and activist. He is acknowledged as the leader of the British Arts and Crafts movement in the second half of the nineteenth century. He is best known for his chintzes, wall-paper and tapestry designs. His patterns, based on flora and fauna are still popular today and can be seen reproduced on many everyday objects.
